Royal Brunei expands London to Borneo network
Royal Brunei Airlines has launched a ’boutique service’ from London to Borneo Island.
Four new destinations have been added to the airline’s network in the Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak.
The gastronomy hot-spot of Tawau (pictured) launched on Monday, November 11, while the inland town of Sibu launches on Thursday, November 14.
They join services to the city of Sandakan and Bintulu, which launched on October 28 and November 5 respectively.
Royal Brunei Airlines CEO Karam Chand said: "The island of Borneo is already one of our most popular destinations with flights to Kota Kinabalu and Kuching.
"Adding Sandakan, Bintulu, Tawau, and Sibu as part of the new RB Link regional initiative allows us to further open the magnificent island and its many attractions including World Heritage Sites to British travellers, with easy connections in Brunei from our daily non-stop flight from Heathrow."
Six flights a week will operate to Sandakan, Tawau and Sibu, with five flights a week to Bintulu.
The routes will use ATR 72-600 aircraft, connecting Brunei with destinations across Borneo Island.
RB Link flights provide guests with a full-service experience, including a light snack and drink service (for flights over one hour), and Checked baggage allowance of 15kg or, for connecting passengers, and baggage allowance of up to 30kg, depending on fare purchased.
Royal Brunei Airlines country manager UK and Ireland Adiel Mambara added: "We anticipate the enhanced connectivity and affordable service provided by RB Link will boost travel from the UK, the travellers who consistently rate Borneo Island as a highly inspirational destination and one on top of their minds."
Fares to each destination start from £629 per person, based on return economy flights from London Heathrow, connecting in Brunei.
