Royal Caribbean cancels three Oasis of the Seas sailings after crane damage

Royal Caribbean has confirmed the cancellation of Oasis of the Seas’ next three voyages after a crane fell on the ship during a dry dock refurbishment in the Bahamas.

Three week-long cruises to the Caribbean from Port Canaveral have been scrapped and guests will receive full refunds plus a full credit for a future cruise.

In addition Royal Caribbean will compensate guests for any airfare change fees of up to $200 for domestic flights and $400 for international.

Oasis of the Seas was at the Grand Bahama Shipyard in Freeport when a crane fell over.

It wrecked a dock and caused damage to the ship, as well as injuring eight workers.

The three cancelled cruises were due to sail on April 7, 14, and April 21.

The ship will now head to Cadiz, Spain for repairs, which is the only available shipyard able to accommodate a ship of its size.

Cruise itineraries will resume on May 5 with a sailing out of Barcelona.
