Royal Caribbean orders fourth Quantum class ship
Royal Caribbean has plans for another megaship after signing an agreement with Germany’s Meyer Werft shipyard for a fourth Quantum-class vessel.
The new ship, which has not been named, will enter service sometime in 2019, according to a statement from Royal Caribbean CEO Richard Fain.
It follows the successful roll out of the first two Quantum-class vessels, Quantum of the Seas and Anthem of the Seas, which entered service in recent months.
A third, Ovation of the Seas, is due for delivery next year and will debut in the China market.
"Today’s announcement is a reflection of the success of the first two Quantum class ships," Fain said.
"We have received a remarkable response from travel agent partners and travelers, and are thrilled that we’ll be able to deliver another revolutionary ship with our partners at Meyer Werft."
Quantum ships, with a capacity for more than 4,000 passengers, are billed as the most technologically advanced ships on the seas, with features such as robotic bartenders and skydiving simulators.
