Ryanair eyes low cost flights across Atlantic
Ryanair boss Michael O’Leary could use a takeover of Aer Lingus to launch low-cost flights across the Atlantic.
Aer Lingus’s long-haul connections to New York, Boston and Chicago are believed to be one of the key attractions of the flag carrier, which Ryanair is hunting for a third time, see previous story.
Ministers in Dublin will meet on Tuesday to discuss the surprise €1.30-a-share offer by Ryanair, which Aer Lingus has dismissed as too low, reports the Telegraph.
The low cost airline boss has previously hinted he would like to revolutionise the market across the Atlantic with long-haul low cost flights.
