Ryanair sells audience with the Pope
Not so long ago, Ryanair boss Michael O’Leary was threatening to strip seats out of planes and force passengers to stand, now he’s offering them a chance to sit with the Pope.
The Papal Audience Tour in Rome is one of the attractions Ryanair has started selling onboard and online after tying up with travel experiences retailer isango!
"Passengers will be able to choose from our rich selection of tours and tickets to the most popular attractions, they will also discover many inspirational experiences like wine tasting, perfume making, diving and cooking lessons," said Isango! vice president Deepak Jha.
Cabin crew will sell the tours from handheld devices, from which they will be able to print tickets for passengers.
Ryanair and isango! tried selling tours on Ryanair.com in 2008, but Jha said the market for pre-booking tickets online had grown significantly since then.
"As a businesses we have witnessed sustained triple digit year-on-year revenue growth over the last three years," he said.
The company sells tickets for over 2,000 tours and attractions, which are being sold to Ryanair passengers at up to 50% discounts.
