Ryanair’s Pricing Policies
Reader Blog:
I am pleased to see that at last Ryanair have taken note of European Legislation in that Taxes are now clearly shown at the initial booking stage making it quite clear what the total price of the booking will be.
In the case of a booking made today, the total cost of return trip for two passengers – €29.86 … excellent!!
However, at the final payment stage the amount of €21.40 was added to the total. This relates to ‘Passenger Charge – CC’.
On further investigation, I found the explanation on the website ……..
To defray the substantial administration costs we incur when processing credit and debit cards or ELV direct debits a handling fee applies to each passenger per flight segment.
Whilst we all expect to pay a credit card charge when making this type of booking, but am sure that I’m not alone in thinking that a €21.40 administration charge is excessive …… What admin costs are Ryanair incurring during the processing of credit cards to justify such costs?
Whilst I do not question the fact that this particular booking was excellent value for money even with the CC charge – Ryanair’s pricing policy continues to be deceptive.
