SAA appoints new CEO
Monwabisi Kalawe has been named as the new CEO of South African Airways.
Kalawe was previously managing director of the South African division of food company Compass Group Plc.
During his career, he also worked at Airports Company South Africa for six years.
Nico Bezuidenhout has been SAA’s acting CEO since the resignation of Siza Mzimela in October.
According to Bloomberg, Mzimela resigned due to a dispute between board members and the government.
The new CEO will be charged with leading the loss-making airline back to profitability.
