SYDNEY – South African Airways has extended its Africa and European Earlybird campaign until December 18.

SAA’s head of Australasia, Thevan Krishna, said the airline’s experience has shown that more and more people are now waiting until later to book their flights.

Earlybird fares for travel to South Africa start at $1,680 return from Perth and $1,878 from the East Coast.

Flights to Europe and the UK start at $2,462 from Perth and $2,558 from the East Coast. All fares include taxes.

South Africa earlybirds offer free connections through to Durban and Cape Town from Johannesburg and SAA’s European specials offer a free side trip to Cape Town.

Tickets are on sale until December 18. Available travel dates are from January 16 to 31 March 31 and August 1 to November 30, 2010.

Thevan said the strong Australian dollar and good value accommodation deals meant an African holiday was now an affordable option.
