Sabre adds more hotels
Sabre has expanded its hotel content by adding more properties.
The company claims hotels and accommodation rates never before seen in a GDS will appear in the Sabre system from March 19.
A deal with hotel consolidator Conferma will enable Sabre connected travel agents in the UK to book a range of properties, bringing the total available on the GDS up to 70,000.
Sabre agents using the new MySabre internet booking platform will be taken via a link to Conferma’s consolidated hotel booking screen. Agents will then be able to access rooms and rates negotiated by Conferma and hotel distribution specialist CNG.
Agents will be able to add their own mark-up to these rates, or charge a service fee to clients.
David Brown, Sabre Travel Network’s vice president for European leisure travel, claimed there would be “room for significant travel agency mark up”, while still keeping rates at or below those that are publicly available.
All bookings will automatically be incorporated in the Sabre PNR (Passenger Name Record) generated by the agency.
As well as the new properties bookable in MySabre through the Conferma deal, 300 new properties now feature in the GDS following the merger of Concorde and Envegure Group, under the new name of Louvre Hotels.
Sabre claimed a 22% year-on-year increase in UK hotel bookings, and a 21% rise across the whole of Europe last year.
