Seb Coe to open WTM

Sports tourism will be highlighted at World Travel Market next month with double Olympic gold medalist Sebastian Coe confirmed to open the event.

Lord Coe, chairman of the London 2012 Olympic Games bid, will be guest speaker at the opening ceremony of WTM on November 8.

WTM was launched in 1980 – the year Lord Cow won the 1,500 metres Olympic gold medal.

Group exhibition director Fiona Jeffrey said: “His presence at a specdial opening ceremony to mark WTM’s silver anniversary is particularly relevant for a number of reasons, but most importantly because no one could ever forget that momentous win in Moscow, juts at a time when a somewhat tentative WTM was feverishly preparing to open its doors to the world for the first time.

“Sebastian Coe will help us to demonstrate the impact of sports tourism on a global scale.”

WTM will be held at the ExCel Exhibition Centre in London on November 8-11.
