Second smart luggage maker closes down following FAA airline restrictions
Another smart luggage maker has bitten the dust as a result of the FAA airline restrictions on smart luggage.
New York-based Raden announced it is ‘no longer in operation’ just a couple of weeks after Bluesmart shut down.
It blames its demise on the enforced limitations of battery-powered luggage by airlines, rendering its products useless during transit.
It will no longer offer returns, exchanges, or repairs.
"The changes in policies concerning batteries in luggage in December by all major airlines severely impacted the usefulness of our products, their value to our customers, our business performance and ultimately the ability to continue operating," it notes in a message on its website.
Unlike Bluesmart, Raden luggage users can remove batteries as required by the regulations but it has nevertheless impacted the business with ongoing confusion of customers over compliancy.
"We sincerely apologize to those who chose to travel with us, our intent was to add ease and simplicity to your travel experience and this unforeseen policy change has made this impossible," it said.
