Service fee calculator added by Galileo
Galileo International is launching a system to allow agents to calculate service fees at point of sale.
The Cendant Corporation-owned GDS is currently rolling out the new version of Galileo Fee Manager product in the EMEA region.
According to the GDS the product still allows agents to calculate commissions when they are making a booking, and to capture this information in their management system, but it also allows agents to view the service fee for the booking. This technology comes days after a survey found that service fees are charged by more than half of UK agents.
The technology has been developed in partnership with OpenJaw Technologies, and claims to be able to reduce costs for agents by eliminating the need for manual calculation and reporting.
Business rules for calculating the fees can be set by the agent and managed online. “New revenue streams should not mean new costly processes,” said vice president product management, Patsy Gettini. Report by Ginny McGrath
