Hong Kong-based hotel group Shangri-La is set to launch its latest hotel in China and its second hotel in Harbin.

Songbei Shangri-La, Harbin is scheduled to open in December 2016 on the Songhua River and features 344 rooms.

It is located just five minutes away from Harbin’s ice festival at the Ice & Snow World and convenient for other city attractions including Sun Island Garden and Siberian Tiger Park.

Room reservations go live from November 2016.

It also has a Horizon Club Lounge and meeting and function space comprising two ballrooms.

"Having the opportunity to introduce a second Shangri-La in Harbin and ahead of the ice festival is exciting. Our intentions are to deliver rich and unique experiences that not only embrace the vibrancy of the fabled city of ice, but also the hospitality of the Shangri-La brand," said general manager Tyson Wang.

Other leisure amenities include a spa, fitness centre and indoor swimming pool.

The company currently manages 98 hotels under the Shangri-La brand with a pipeline of new developments in China, Cambodia, Hong Kong, India, Myanmar, Philippines, Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka.
