Singapore Air to sponsor WTA tennis season finale

Singapore Airlines has signed up to become an official sponsor of the 2014 BNP Paribas WTA Finals in Singapore next month.

Under the agreement the airline will fly the world’s top female tennis players and officials to the event including world No 1 Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova.

The WTA season finale plays hosts to world’s top eight women’s singles and doubles players and Singapore will continue staging the tournament until 2018.

"This is another example of our commitment to both sports and tourism and this world-class event will attract both local and overseas tennis fans, showcasing WTA’s huge presence and growing influence in Asia-Pacific," said Singapore Airlines VP of sales and marketing Foo Chai Woo.

The tournament takes place from October 17 to October 26 at the Singapore Sports Hub.
