Singapore now has the most powerful passport in the world
It may be only a so-called ‘Little Red Dot’ but Singapore now has the most valuable passport in the world.
Under new annual rankings, Singaporeans can now travel to more countries visa-free than any other nations.
In the Passport Index, by consultancy firm Arton Capital, Singapore knocked Germany off the top spot, which had been ranked number one for the last three years.
That means holders of Singapore passports can now enter 159 countries without a visa or can have one issued on arrival.
Sweden and South Korea are joint third in the rankings.
Afghanistan is right at the bottom of the list, with Afghan citizens only able to enter visa-free in 22 countries.
"For the first time ever, an Asian country has the most powerful passport in the world. It is a testament of Singapore’s inclusive diplomatic relations and effective foreign policy," said Philippe May, managing director of Arton Capital’s Singapore office.
