Skiing ‘the perfect antidote’ to work
A survey has confirmed what many ski-addicts already knew – that a week frolicking in the white stuff is a better way to relax than lounging on a beach.
Teletext Ski Holidays questioned some 740 people and found that two-thirds worried more about their work if they spent their holidays sunbathing rather than skiing. The survey reportedly found that many people believe vigorous exercise is the perfect antidote to stress, and that skiers find it easier to forget about the office – partly because of the fear of falling over and getting injured.
Dr David Jones, professor of sport and exercise sciences at Birmingham University, reportedly told the online news provider Ananova: “You are far more likely to switch off from work if your mind is being kept active and you have to think about what you are doing.”
