A small earthquake was recorded in the early hours of this morning just 10 miles from London Gatwick Airport.
Residents in parts of West Sussex and Surrey reported feeling their houses shake and hearing loud thuds when the earthquake struck near Newdigate, Surrey, just before 3.45am.
Readings from the British Geographical Survey showed an earthquake of 3.7 magnitude, which is reportedly the most powerful earthquake to strike the south east in more than 50 years.
There were no reports of damage.
