Southampton hotel claims cruise lounge first
A hotel in Southampton has created a luxury lounge for cruise passengers departing from the port.
The Grand Harbour Hotel, on Southampton Waterfront, claims it will be the UK’s first and only hotel cruise lounge.
It has converted its fish restaurant into a lounge where guests can relax with free snacks and drinks while hotel staff look after their bags and then provide transfers to ships.
"As far as we are aware this is the only cruise club lounge in any hotel anywhere in the country," said sales and marketing director Nathan Chart.
"With our position on the famous Southampton waterfront we have a lot of cruise passengers staying with us ahead of their departures from the port. We wanted to provide them with their own bit of luxury that they can take advantage of while waiting for the time they can board the ship."
The Grand Harbour also offers packages for cruise passengers which include parking over their time away.
