Southwest Airlines offers rewards points for Lyft rides

Tuesday, 01 Apr, 2016 0
Southwest Airlines has teamed up with ride hailing service Lyft to offer its loyalty members reward points for their first Lyft ride.

Under the partnership Rapid Rewards members get a one-time reward of 1,100 Rapid Rewards points for their first ride.

Additionally, a $15 discount is offered for a first ride with Lyft for Southwest customers who are not loyalty members.

The two offers are good through 2016 but cannot be combined.

"At Southwest, we’re known for low fares and great hospitality—whether on the ground or in the air and rideshare is a natural extension to air travel," said Bob Jordan, executive vice president and chief commercial officer at Southwest Airlines.

The partnership is available for riders in 11 Southwest airport markets including Austin, Chicago, Louisville, Oakland, Dallas Love Field and Los Angeles.

"Partnering with Southwest, the country’s largest domestic air carrier is incredibly exciting, especially given our companies’ shared commitment to treating people better," said John Zimmer, co-founder and president of Lyft.
