Southwest says cut in line for cash
Southwest Airlines, whose festival-like seating plan is legendary, is now offering customers an opt-up option.
The Dallas Morning News reports that beginning this week, the airline will allow flyers to purchase the golden "A" status for boarding for $40 per flight.
Getting onboard in "A" means first boarding with elite status flyers as well as first dibs on the overhead bins.
The new option can only be purchased from a customer service agent at the airport gate area 45 minutes before departure time.
