Spirit Airlines jet slides off taxiway
Spirit Airlines said there were no injuries among 111 crew and passengers after a jet skidded off a taxiway at Baltimore Airport.
The flight from Las Vegas landed without incident but then skidded off the tarmac onto grass as it made its way to the gate.
There were slick conditions due to the winter storm.
"After safely landing and entering the taxiway this morning, the nose wheel of Spirit Airlines Flight 696 slowly slid onto the grass while turning a corner and taxiing to the gate," the airline said.
Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport officials tweeted that fire and rescue crews responded to the aircraft and everyone deplaned safely.
"Our winter weather team has worked throughout the day to maintain safe surfaces in the airfield and near the terminal," the airport tweeted earlier in the day before the incident amid worsening weather due to the storm.
Hundreds of flights were cancelled after the first major snowstorm of the season shut down much of the East Coast.
As much as 10 inches of snow was dumped on New York City.
