Starlight Fundraisers rest easy with Choice Hotels
Toowoomba radio personality Hamish Carter will cycle 2000km from Adelaide to his Queensland home town, raising more than $40,000 for the Starlight Children’s Foundation of Australia and resting up at Choice Hotels along the way.
The breakfast radio presenter embarked on his solo cycling challenge this week and will ride for 16 days through the Riverland, Hay Plains, central NSW and southern Queensland to reach Toowoomba on September 8.
Choice Hotels Australasia (CHA) is providing rooms for Hamish and his two-member support crew at eight properties along the route including:
Hay NSW – Comfort Inn Hay – August 28
Griffith NSW – Comfort Inn Gemini – August 29
Parkes NSW – Comfort Inn Parkes International – August 31
Narrabri NSW – Comfort Inn Mid-Town – September 4
Goondiwindi QLD – Comfort Inn Goondiwindi – September 6
CHA Managing Director David Bayes said the hotels had enthusiastically embraced the event and were keen to become part of this great fundraising initiative.
“We have more than 245 Comfort, Quality and Clarion hotels dotted throughout Australia, so naturally we are thrilled to be able to accommodate Hamish and his crew throughout the challenge and providing much needed rest stops for them along the way,” Mr Bayes said.
This is the fourth time Hamish has undertaken the cycling challenge to raise money for Starlight and this year’s event will cover the longest distance, in a bid to achieve the highest fundraising target ever of more than $40,000.
Starlight Children’s Foundation aims to brighten the lives of all seriously ill and hospitalised children and their families throughout Australia via hospital programs, a ‘wish-granting’ scheme and family escapes.
CFM is part of the SeaFM radio network and broadcasts through all areas of the Darling Downs and Burnett regions in Queensland.
