STB fines SS Scuba for selling trips without a license
Singapore-based diving specialist SS Scuba was hit with a S$14,000 fine this week for marketing and selling packages without a valid travel agent licence.
The company’s license expired way back in 2014 but was found to have sold overseas trips to clients between January 2015 and July 2016, the Singapore Tourism Board said.
It was convicted on 10 charges of acting without a license and a further 40 other charges were taken into consideration during sentencing.
"STB takes a serious view against unlicensed travel agents and is committed to uphold the reputation of Singapore’s tourism sector," the STB said.
SS Scuba was established in 2010 following a merger between scuba company The Submersibles and diving centre Seaborne Scuba International.
It distributed diving equipment and offered travel and diving courses.
