The return of Stockholm Bromma-Malmö domestic air connection
The Malmö–Stockholm air route, historically vital for both southern Sweden and the capital region, is making a strong comeback as regional carrier Skåne Aviation resinstated the flight on April 12.
Before the pandemic, the route handled nearly half a million passengers annually. In 2024, that figure stood at around 250,000, underlining continued demand for efficient connections to and from central Stockholm.
Skåne Aviation route is primarily operated using the Saab 2000, one of the world’s fastest turboprop aircraft, with a capacity of 50 passengers and a scheduled flight time of just 65 minutes.
At launch, Skåne Aviation is offering a total of 44 weekly departures between Malmö and Stockholm Bromma- the second airport of the Swedish capital. It operates Monday through Friday and on Sundays. Flight schedules are designed to suit both business and leisure travelers.
The inaugural departure on April 12 from Malmö Airport was marked with a celebratory event attended by Regional Council Chairman Carl-Johan Sonesson, Malmö Airport Director Nils Funke, and Skåne Aviation CEO Stefan Nilsson, who officially opened the service with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
“It’s fantastic to see this level of engagement. We are delighted that so many have embraced this initiative, and we hope passengers will start booking Malmö–Bromma,” said Jens Harrysson, Chief Commercial Officer at Skåne Aviation.
Skåne Aviation is fully bookable across all channels since April 22, including its website and global distribution systems used by travel agents.
“The time savings to and from Bromma Airport are significant for travelers seeking quick access to central Stockholm,” said Stefan Nilsson. “It’s a city-close airport, allowing passengers to spend more of their day on business or meetings rather than in queues or traveling long distances to the airport.”
The airline plans to further increase capacity with additional frequencies later this fall.
