Strong winds cause cancellations at Heathrow
Airlines flying into Heathrow today have been forced to cancel some flights due to expected blustery weather at the west London airport.
British Airways said it had agreed with Heathrow and other airlines to slightly reduce its short-haul schedule due to the bad weather.
"For safety reasons Air Traffic Control has to allow greater spaces between landing aircraft in high winds and this has resulted in a reduced number of aircraft being allowed to land each hour at Heathrow," said BA.
"We apologise for any difficulties caused by the poor weather and will do all we can to minimise the effect it has on our operations."
