Sunburst changes name and offers 14% commissions

The Massachusetts-based Sunburst Holidays has a new name, Sunburst Vacations, and is expanding its operations from primarily Jamaica to more than 30 destinations in the Caribbean and Mexico.

“We emphasize all-inclusive packages with an unusual pricing strategy,” said Elizabeth Beutel, director of marketing. Essentially, she said, the company will meet the price of any other tour operator.

Sunburst Vacations also offers agents 14% commissions and an additional $10 for each booked trip, she added.

In the future, Sunburst plans to add personal assistants for customers. For its all-inclusive packages, Sunburst also offers the unusual perk of free insurance.

A typical short Sunburst trip can be as low as $399.

“But we also have 30-day vacations where people spend maybe $20,000,” said Ms Beutel.
