Super Break scores hat-trick at SPAA awards
Short break specialist Super Break scored a hat-trick at the Scottish Passenger Agents’ Association Travel Awards 2018 last night.
It took the awards for Hotel Booking/Accommodation Supplier of the Year, UK Holiday Operator of the Year and European City Break Supplier of the Year.
Emirates also took away three awards – UK Trade Support Team of the Year, Worldwide Airline of the Year and Airline Representative of the Year, the latter thanks to the work of sales team member Shirley Saadi, from Glasgow.
Jigsaw Travel, based in Hamilton and specialising in business travel, won the award for Small Business Agency of the Year, whilst cruise expert Glen Travel, from Blantyre, took the prize for Small Leisure Agency of the Year.
Martin Maclaren, regional sales manager for Scotland and Ireland, was voted Leisure Representative of the Year for his work with Beachcomber Tours.
Mandy Burrie, regional sales manager for Scotland and Ireland, walked away with the award for Cruise Representative of the Year for her role with Celebrity Cruises.
Over 600 guests attended last night’s dinner at DoubleTree by Hilton in Glasgow.
SPAA president Ken McLeod said: "The annual SPAA travel awards remains one the biggest events in the Scottish travel industry calendar and recognises those who are working so hard to support an industry which is a key driver of the nation’s economy.
"Every year, we give agents operating in Scotland the opportunity to express their appreciation for prominent companies in the travel sector which they have worked closely with. In turn, travel businesses across Scotland receive acknowledgement for their dedication to the industry that continues to prosper with their support.
"Our annual travel awards ceremony remains a testament to the commitment of our partners in the industry and is a celebration of their achievements and collaboration with other business in the sector.
"Every year, the travel industry in Scotland continues to build on its previous successes and as an association, it is our honour to be able to recognise such hard work."
