Superbreak plans for post Olympic surge
Short break specialist Superbreak is urging agents to push the UK as it sees a 10% rise in bookings post Olympics.
The operator is expecting this demand to grow further once the Olympics and Para Olympics have finished following all the media coverage of London.
Graham Balmforth, national sales manager at Superbreak said: "Everyone will agree that London is looking amazing at the moment and every day of the Olympic coverage some of our key attractions, venues and buildings have been showcased at their very finest.
"Much has been reported over recent days about empty hotels and the quiet West End, but late August and September are expected to be busier. Agents can make some significant earnings from this sector of the market if they focus on it."
UK tourism should also get a boost from travel trade bosses across the world visiting major British destinations as guests of national tourism agency VisitBritain.
CEOs from the increasingly important markets of Brazil, Russia, India and China are among the influential delegates travelling to Britain for the national tourist board’s World Travel Leaders Summit taking place 4 – 6 August.
VisitBritain’s chief executive Sandie Dawe says: "We organised our World Travel Leaders Summit to take place during the greatest sporting and cultural festival in British history.
"It is a fantastic opportunity to show influential tourism chiefs the sheer diversity of what Britain can offer overseas holidaymakers.
"We want to ensure that the travel trade is featuring Britain in its brochures and selling Britain to its customers."
Delegates include tourism chiefs from leading tourism and travel companies TUI Europe, Thomas Cook India, CAISSA Touristic from China, Globus and the Japan Association of Travel Agents.
