Teletext Holidays defends the value of packages
Teletext Holidays has produced a new report calculating the ‘extras’ holidaymakers packaging themselves have to pay.
As part of their new marketing campaign based on clear and honest pricing, see previous story, the company has researched typical scenarios and priced the cost of baggage fees, web check-in costs, aviation insurance and taxes.
Teletext claims this often amounts to more than the original headline price arguing customers are better off with a traditional package.
For example it found a couple travelling to Paris could have to pay more than £237 extra after tax and seat reservations are factored in.
Equally some of the individual costs the report identifies are where one airline charges £12 per person for web check-in, and £50 per person for luggage.
"With many people now opting for flights and accommodation-only breaks rather than full holiday packages, we wanted to find out if travellers are still getting a good deal," said Mark Bloxham, marketing director at Teletext Holidays.
"Many providers try to tempt customers in with incredibly low headline rates – but as this report demonstrates, if something seems too good to be true, it probably is."
