Psychologists invent test following publication of somewhat worrying survey

A psychologist has developed a test to determine your perfect holiday partner after a survey suggested many of us often make the wrong choice of holiday companion.

According to the survey, conducted by Teletext Holidays, couples, whether married or not, are most likely to ruin each others’ trips; 10 per cent of respondents said they regretted their choice of travel companion and of those, 50 per cent said it was a husband, wife, or long-term partner who had been the cause of the ruined trip.

While more than a half said they found their travel companion “unadventurous, boring and keen to complain”, a third said a lack of romance was a problem. Ten per cent complained about their partners’ “lecherousness”.

Dr Glenn Wilson, a psychologist at the University of London, who compiled the holiday compatibility test for Teletext, said: “There is more to booking a great holiday than the views from the hotel balcony or the size of the pool. Being subjected to unusual experiences can affect how you get on with people. Your best friend at home could turn into your arch-enemy on holiday.”
