Thailand eyes China travel bubble talks
Thailand is planning discussions with China for a quarantine-free travel bubble scheme this year. Thailand’s success has been heavily dependent on China for years.
Tourism Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn said talks will be held when officials visit China for the Winter Olympics in Beijing. China has remained closed for outbound travel for two years. Deputy of the Tourism Council of Thailand, Wichit Pakobgoson, says Chinese tourists could be allowed to travel again in the second half of this year.
Piphat said discussions with Malaysia are scheduled at end of the month for a similar travel bubble scheme.
