Thailand presses World Expo bid
Thailand’s Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) is pressing ahead with its candidacy for World Expo 2020.
Former British prime minister Tony Blair will be among those who will be given a rundown on Expo progress when he appears at the BOI (Bank of Investment) Fair ‘s CEO Forum at the Plaza Athenee Hotel Bangkok on January 17.
The ex-PM will deliver an address on The Challenges and Opportunities in a Globalised World.
The “Believe in Thailand: Expo 2020 Pavilion†– part of the fair – is rebuilding confidence in Thailand and Ayuttaya province (possible site of the Expo), following extensive flooding during recent heavy rains.
TECB has joined with the private sector to implement short, medium and long-term strategies to maintain the industry’s growth at 15-20 percent per year.
In 2012, TCEB expects to host 750,000 MICE visitors.
