That’s what I call an activity holiday!
A British student is reportedly planning a trip to the United States during which he will break strange local laws along the way. According to the Sydney Morning Herald newspaper, 23-year-old Richard Smith plans to commit such criminal acts as falling asleep in a cheese factory in South Dakota, going whale-hunting in Utah (which has no coast) and crossing a road while holding hands in Hartford Connecticut. Smith is quoted as saying: “I am not really one of these people who likes to go away and sit by a pool. I want a purpose, and this seemed perfect.” He reportedly added that he was disappointed that senators in Virginia recently dropped a bill that would have made it illegal to expose one’s underwear by wearing low-slung trousers. Smith, who is planning to write a book once the trip is over, said reportedly said he was not too concerned about breaking laws: “I think there is more chance I will get arrested for the way I break the laws than for breaking the laws themselves. Who knows, there might be a god reason for their existence – I am quite willing to find out.” Report by Tim Gillett, News From Abroad Ltd
