The inside track from Outrigger

Thursday, 22 Jan, 2007 0

Darren Shaw, the newly appointed GM at Fiji’s Coral Coast Resort, Outrigger on the Lagoon told The Mole over the weekend, that things are travelling along quite well, relatively speaking.

He added, “Obviously there is a long way to go and hard work ahead with the pick up gradual and hopefully the 2nd half of the year Outrigger will have fully bounced back.”

“The travel advisory lift from NZ and Australia has made a big difference and we are now moving forward steadily”.

He added, “However we should not forget that we are starting from a very low base and most of the resorts in Fiji are the same, occupancy wise, with the islands, with less inventory, filling better than the main island.

“We at Outrigger on the Lagoon – Fiji still take great pride in the fact that we have not laid off any permanent staff and all Aactivities and restaurants are open as per usual.”

Darren also said, “Agents and their clients should remember that all this comes with some great bonuses for them, because not only are they getting Fiji at a huge discount, but because at the moment, with the combinatio of the troubles and low season, the hotle is hald full, with plenty of lounges available by the pools, room upgrades available, no waiting in lines to get into restaurants, no fully booked tours and yet no reduction in services”!

Sounds great to me!

Darren closed with “I won’t last for long, although our specials have been extended to June 30th”.
