The Personal Travel Agents start year with record-breaking sales
The year got off to a flying start for homeworkers working in partnership with The Personal Travel Agents, part of The Midcounties Co-operative.
Overall sales for the homeworking business in the last week of January 2022 were 16% ahead of January 2019, and 25 January saw the PTAs hit its biggest single day of trading in ten years, with £471,000 of sales that day.
Summer 2022 was the strongest period for sales, accounting for 47% of bookings throughout January.
However, the winter ’21/22 market is also proving strong, taking a 31% share of the bookings, with a strong "super-lates" market making February 2022 the most popular month for departures in the winter.
For travel this February, the favourite destinations are The Canaries and Dubai for sunseekers, with Iceland taking the third spot.
Holidays to Mexico, staycations in the UK and ski lates are also popular.
Looking further ahead, bucket-list style holidays are selling well, with Lapland adventures for both December 2022 and 2023 standing out as a top seller.
Holidays to the US are selling well to the couples market, particularly December 2022 and winter 2022/23 breaks to NYC.
Sheena Whittle, Head of The Personal Travel Agents, says: "After the relaxation of testing rules was announced in early January, it was like someone switched a tap on. The PTAs instantly saw a surge of bookings, and sales continued to grow throughout the month. This is hugely encouraging and a welcome relief after the past two years of ups and downs."
