Thomas Cook donates almost £500,000 to Travel Foundation
Thomas Cook has taken its total raised for The Travel Foundation to almost £500,000 in three years.
The company has handed over a cheque for £90,000 to the sustainable tourism charity, taking the total raised in the period to £481,463.
Thomas Cook helps raise funds via donations from customers and supports initiatives, such as distributing children’s packs to families in resort and issuing DVDs to overseas teams encouraging responsible tourism.
It has also worked with the Travel Foundation on a flagship project to establish an eco-friendly hotel in Turkey. Best practices established within this property will be shared with other hotels around the world.
UK & Ireland CEO Manny Fontenla-Novoa said: “Thomas Cook is a responsible company and values its relationship with such a worthwhile organisation. Travel Foundation is doing vital work in establishing sustainable tourism around the world.
“We are proud to have been able to raise almost half a million pounds for them, and are certain that the funds will be put to excellent use. We look forward to working with the Travel Foundation in future to help further improve both the environmental and social impact of tourism.”
