Thomas Cook staff told ‘industry needs quality candidates like you’
Thomas Cook staff who find themselves out of a job have been told there are some ‘excellent opportunities’ for finding another role.
Barbara Kolosinska, director at C&M Travel Recruitment and C&M Executive Recruitment, said: "We’re extremely sad to hear about the collapse of Thomas Cook . It’s dreadful news for the entire travel industry, but particularly of course for the company’s employees who now face losing their jobs.
"If there is any good that can come from this awful situation, it is that there are currently many excellent opportunities out there because the industry has been suffering from a shortage of quality candidates for some time.
"Jobseekers with experience of working in the travel industry have been in high demand in recent months, so they should try to remain upbeat and optimistic about finding a new position quickly.
"However, due to the scale of the collapse, there are obviously a large number of people in the same situation, so anyone affected should be very proactive about finding a new role and should prioritise updating their CV and LinkedIn profile.
"They should then submit their CV to job boards, register with a specialist travel recruitment company that can match their experiences to relevant roles and approach companies directly.
"To support Thomas Cook employees, we’ve set-up a dedicated email helpline ([email protected]) where we will provide advice, guidance and information about which roles are available that suit their skills.
C&M is hosting a recruitment day on October 1 at its London office, where its consultants will offer one-to-one career advice as well as share details of exclusive travel roles.
The register, contact [email protected].
Other travel companies have been sharing details of job vacancies or dates of recruitment days on the Travel Gossip website.
The Government has also announced it will set up a taskforce to help the 9,000 UK staff who are now out of work to find other jobs.
TravelMole recently published a guide from C&M for travel industry staff who suddently found themselves without a job.
