Tigerair brings more budget to Brisbane
Tigerair Australia will make Brisbane its third Australian base, with operations starting in March next year.
Two new Airbus A320 aircraft will be based in Brisbane, servicing three new routes – to and from Darwin, Cairns and Adelaide.
Tigerair has also launched a new route between Sydney and Adelaide.
Tigerair Australia CEO Rob Sharp said: "Budget travel options at Brisbane have lagged behind other major airports.
"Historically, budget travel has accounted for only 19% of Brisbane’s overall airport capacity, against 33% and 26% respectively in Melbourne and Sydney."
