Tour group says see them while they’re still here
It’s been well documented that lions, tigers and others are fading from the world’s wild places, which is leading more tour companies to provide advice on the best places to still find the big cats.
“Big cat sightings are a sure bet in Zambia,” said Jim Holden, President of African Travel, Inc. “The interior parks in Zambia such as Kafue are often referred to as the ‘gems of Africa’ and are teeming with wildlife, especially big cats,” he adds.
The tour company offers various trips where participants are likely to find even specific animals such as leopards, cheetahs or even tree-climbing lions.
Trips include the eight-day Kenyan Horizons, which visits one of the most popular places in that country — “and for good reason,” adds a news release.
Kenya is rich in all types of wildlife.
“The comfortable cottages and traditional tented camps, located in prime areas, deliver the authentic experience sought by safari enthusiasts,” says the group. Prices start at US$4,295 per person.
Among several trips, perhaps the “finest” is “The Last Refuge,” says African Travel
It’s a nine-day journey to Botswana, Zambia that the site says has “become legendary with Safari connoisseurs.”
It’s a well-managed wildlife reserve with personalized service, the company says. It includes a visit to Victoria Falls, the largest curtain of falling water in the world.
Prices start at $6,795 per person, land only, based on double occupancy.
