Tour of New Orleans devastation proves to be popular
A new tour featuring collapsing homes and a weather-ravaged stadium is selling out.
Grey Line New Orleans’ three-hour tour called “Hurricane Katrina — America’s Worst Catastrophe” has been so popular additional tours are being added.
The tour includes the Morial Convention Center, a place of refuge where some residents died while waiting for rescue, and a look at the Superdome, where thousands waited rescuers for days.
While some question the appropriate of what appears to be a morbid event, Gray Line executives say the event has a charitable side with $3 from each ticket being donated to local charities.
Passengers also get a packet with pictures of the devastation and a form letter urging them to write the US Congress for help.
