Tourism Australia to back leading meeting and incentive industry event
Tourism Australia has thrown its weight behind Asia Pacific’s leading event for the business events industry, AIME, with a larger presence planned for the 2008 event. AIME attracts more than 850 exhibitors from 50 countries; and 2,600 visitors and hosted buyers from the meeting and incentive industry.
Established in 1993, it showcases the best Australian, Asia Pacific and international destinations, products and services.
AIME’s event director Rosemarie Sama says she’s thrilled the country’s tourism marketing body has recognised the significant contribution the business events industry makes.
“Each year millions of dollars of business for the business events industry is booked at this event. That equates to a significant financial injection for the economy, through the amount delegates spend when they attend business events.”
Recent statistics show international convention delegates can spend almost six times more than tourists. Tourism Australia’s head of tourism events, Joyce DiMascio, says over the past year, Tourism Australia has renewed its focus on business events with a range of exciting new trade marketing initiatives including a greater presence at AIME 2008.
“AIME is an important showcase for our industry and we are very pleased to be on the floor with a new booth.
“It will provide an ideal opportunity for us to meet with buyers from around the world and key partners from around Australia and to share details of our plans.” “There is no doubt that this event will give us the chance to meet face-to-face with key players.”
