Free Conference – Tourism – Seizing the Moment in Adversity- A focus on Destination UK
In the midst of one of the most challenging economic environments the UK has experienced, the tourism sector has been described by the Prime Minister as a local industry with huge economic opportunity.
But can the sector seize this opportunity? This year’s ICRT annual conference on Local Economic Development and Tourism looks to review these prospects.
VisitEngland and ABTA are supporting this free event that will focus on the contribution that tourism makes to livelihoods in the UK, through direct and indirect employment and by creating additional local demand for goods and services.
In the morning, the emphasis will be on the national impact of the tourism sector on economic development and employment.
The afternoon sessions will cover the local economic impacts of particular businesses and initiatives.
Speakers include James Beresford, CEO VisitEngland; Stephen D’Alfonso, Luke Pollard and Nikki White, ABTA; Kurt Janson & Ken Robinson, Tourism Alliance; Martin Blackwell, Association of Town Centre Management; Denis Wormwell, CEO Shearings and Visit England Board Member; Manda Brookman, CoaST; James Turner, Hidden Britain; Harold Goodwin, ICRT; Jason Freezer,VisitEngland.
