Tourist confirmed dead after Indonesia volcano fall
The body of a tourist has been recovered on Mount Rinjani on the island of Lombok, Indonesia.
Brazilian tourist Juliana Marinsm 27 was reported missing several days ago on the 3,700m volcano.
She is thought to have fallen several hundred metres.
Due to bad weather and low visibility it has taken a few days to locate the body.
A Search and Rescue (SAR) team located her body this week about 600 metres down a cliff face.
“A rescuer successfully reached the victim. Upon examination, no signs of life were found,” said Chief of the National SAR Agency (Basarnas), Air Marshal TNI Mohammad Syaugi.
Mount Rinjani is one of Indonesia’s highest climbable volcanoes and is an arduous 3-4 day climb to the summit and back.
It is one of Lombok’s top adventure tourism experiences in summer.
