Transportation Department still investigating 18 airlines over delayed refunds
The U.S. Transportation Department said it has 18 investigations still open against airlines over complaints they have failed to provide refunds to passengers in a timely manner. The refunds relate to cancellations due to the Covid pandemic.
"The department has devoted considerable time, energy, and effort to securing relief for consumers and holding airlines accountable," a DOT report said.
The department said it has completed investigations against Air Canada and United Airlines and is in the middle of settlement discussions with Air Canada. Earlier this summer the DOT said it was seeking a fine of more than $25 million from Air Canada.
