Travel insurer offers global pandemic monitor

Friday, 05 Sep, 2006 0

A business tool designed to help international companies prepare for the outbreak of pandemics around the world has been launched.

The subscription-based World Pandemic Monitor has been developed to help companies prepare and adapt staff travel plans, according to Europ Assistance, which has developed the service with risk management technology firm iJET.

The monitor scrutinises and summarises hundreds of international articles and reports to produce a weekly newsletter, keeping pace with events such as new countries affected, confirmed cases and remedies introduced by authorities of concerned countries. This information comes with graphs, maps and in-depth articles selected by relevance.

Europ Assistance UK & Ireland managing director Charles Walckenaer said: “The World Pandemic Monitor offers a professional and objective source of real-time information about potential pandemics, including avian flu.

“This is of particular use to global and multinational businesses and companies who regularly send their workforce around the world. We will be saving organisations many man hours as our teams monitor thousands of information sources around the clock, allowing businesses to focus on the development and execution of contingency plans.”
