travelharbour owners close operator division
Travelharbour’s tour operator business has ceased trading after owners, British American Investments have decided to withdraw from the UK market.
Travelharbour’s ex- vice president, Neil Pettifer told TravelMole that British American Investments had been trying to sell the company for some weeks. Mr Pettifer said the business travel division has now been sold through a management buyout, but the tour operating side, which includes Pearls of the Orient, Pearls of India, and Pearls of the Ocean, has closed.
The tour operating division had one office in New Malden, from which all staff have been made redundant. Mr Pettifer said the redundancies had been handled legally, but the timing – just before Christmas, and during a poor economic climate – was unfortunate.
