Travelodge continues UK expansion
Budget hotel brand Travelodge has opened three new hotels in the last eight weeks, and claims to be on course to add a further 15 UK properties by the end of the year.
The new hotels, which together represent an investment of almost £6million, are located in Durham, Peterborough and Cirencester and bring the total number of Travelodges in the UK and Ireland to 215.
Property director Kevin Jackson said: “In the last eighteen months or more, we have seen a significant rise in the demand for budget accommodation. Where Travelodge can outstrip its competitors is in the acquisition of strategic locations. A perfect example of this is Durham where Travelodge is the first budget hotel for the city and the lodge is right in the heart of the old railway station.
“Each of the new sites is part of an expansion programme that demonstrates the brand’s commitment to growth in the UK market. This in turn is part of the Compass Group – Roadside Division’s strategy to have a presence at every major travel hub across the UK.”
