Travelport partners with AdventureLink for adventure travel
AdventureLink Travel Inc (AdventureLink), the world’s largest provider of adventure travel, announces a new partnership with Travelport, the preeminent business services provider to the global travel industry. The AdventureLink platform, which provides both consumers and travel agents access to the rapidly growing adventure travel sector, will initially be made available on the Travelport Universal API™ and the Travelport Rooms and More web site in the UK and US. "We are excited to partner with AdventureLink to give our customers in the UK and US access to this unique global content," stated Chris Zando, VP of Global Partnerships & Strategic Alliances for Travelport. "This partnership will enable AdventureLink-connected activity suppliers to reach millions of travelers via Travelport’s extensive network of customers in these regions."
Adventure travel can be a physical activity, cultural exchange, or active engagement with nature and represents an $89 billion dollar global industry. The Adventure Travel Trade Association estimates that this form of travel is growing by 17% per year as consumers actively seek out these types of experiential journeys and is outperforming the 4% growth seen in traditional leisure travel.
AdventureLink is the world’s leading aggregator of adventure travel, having assembled the world’s best adventure tour operators into a single, easily accessible system. AdventureLink offers over 14,000 trips to 130 countries including African safaris, cooking lessons in Italy, Colorado River rafting, or a private sailing tour in Greece to name a few.
Many travelers dream of climbing Machu Picchu, seeing the pyramids in Egypt or going on a Safari in Africa, but finding and booking these types of trips can be very confusing, difficult, and time consuming. Before AdventureLink, consumers could not easily shop for, compare, and book these trips in a single location.
"We have assembled the world’s best adventure tour operators in a single system, including experiences from G Adventures, Geographic Expeditions, Intrepid Travel and local operators," said Kelly Tompkins, AdventureLink Founder & CEO. "This provides consumers and travel professionals with the ability to easily find, compare and book the perfect trip from the world’s best adventure tour operators."
