Travelzoo claims surge in UK useage
Travelzoo claims to have received more than 2.8 million clicks on travel offers provided on a ‘top 20’ email newsletter in the last quarter.
The figures, based on the company’s 600,000-strong UK subscriber base, compare with less than 2.5 million the previous three months and just over 1.5 million in the first quarter of the year.
The quarterly increase for the period ending September 30 represents a 470% rise in ‘consumer interaction’ year-on-year, the company said.
Travelzoo says interest remains strong in the final quarter, with subscribers clicking on 1.2 million offers since October 1.
European managing director Chris Loughlin said: “The click data highlights that the Travelzoo Top 20 now has a sizable and very loyal following of travel enthusiasts in the UK.
“Based on feedback from our travel advertisers, we know that our 600,000 subscribers are booking thousands of spontaneous trips every quarter.”
More than 180 European travel companies have promoted offers in the Travelzoo Top 20 email newsletter since its UK launch in May last year, including British Airways, Excel Airways, bmi, BMIbaby, fasttrackHolidays, Opodo.co.uk, Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts, Starwood Hotels & Resorts and Thomas Cook.
