TripAdvisor inks deal on holidaylettings.co.uk purchase

Tuesday, 24 Jun, 2010 0

TripAdvisor has announced it is to buy holiday home website holidaylettings.co.uk.

The huge UGC company’s latest acquisition cements a direction towards offering holiday homes to its users, having purchased US-based FlipKey in 2008. TripAdvisor launched a holiday rental business in 2009.

The terms of this latest deal have been kept secret by the company so far.

Holidaylettings was set up in 1999. TripAdvisor says it will leave the management structure untouched and its co-founders and management team will carry on running the business as an independent brand.

It has 40,000 holiday homes on its books across 116 countries and receives 25 million visitors every year.

Founder and CEO of Tripadvisor Steve Kaufer said: “Our acquisition of Holiday Lettings significantly enhances the choice of fantastic holiday homes available to the TripAdvisor community, particularly within Europe. It will also enable travellers to benefit from a wealth of destination information from fellow travellers to help them plan their perfect trip.”
